Design Workshop

A comprehensive design workshop was conducted with our client and team members to gather extensive insights into the problem at hand. The primary objective of this workshop was to delve deeply into the client’s perspectives and requirements, as well as to strategize our team’s approach to addressing them.
Prior to the session, we meticulously formulated inquiries based on thorough industry research and analyses of pertinent online articles. These inquiries were designed to elucidate key aspects of the project, including its purpose, rationale, target audience, and implementation strategy.

Our focal points of discussion revolved around elucidating:

What?

The nature of the solution being developed.

WHO?

The intended beneficiaries of the product.

WHY?

The underlying motivations driving the project.

HOW?

The methodologies employed in the process.

Discussion with Physicians

In an interview with a few primary care physicians, I gained valuable insights into the difficulties experienced by patients who do not adhere to their medical treatments, as well as the consequences of such non-compliance.

The physician also highlighted various stages where insurance companies play a role in the process, although we will not delve into these details in the MVP stage.

Healthcare is disjointed.
  • Streamlined & Efficient communication among physicians, pharmacists, and patients is essential to promote medication adherence, as they all strive towards this common goal.
  • Non-adherence often stems from fragmented and poorly coordinated care.
People who are non-adherent lack the time/energy to use adherence apps.
  • Individuals who don’t adhere to medication routines are often discouraged by the time-consuming process of manually inputting and updating their medications in an app.
Missed prescription refills lead to lost money and extra resources.
  • Physicians employ additional personnel to manage the status of patient medication refills.

Major Findings & Uncovered Insights

A qualitative research study was undertaken to gather insights directly from patients aged between 25 and 50 years. Five individuals within this demographic were interviewed to gain a comprehensive understanding from the patient’s perspective.

The objective of these interviews was to delve deeper into their experiences and perspectives regarding relevant healthcare matters.

SOLUTION

My design approach focused on creating a cohesive and visually appealing interface that allows users to track key preventive biomarkers and monitor chronic conditions with ease. By prioritizing a clean and intuitive design, I aimed to enhance the overall user experience, making health tracking a straightforward and accessible process.

Unified Health Information

Beek Health consolidates medical data into one centralized platform, streamlining the process of managing health information. By integrating records from various patient portals, Beek Health eliminates the need for users to navigate multiple disparate systems. This centralized approach provides a unified view of health metrics, enabling users to access and manage their medical history, track key preventive biomarkers, and monitor chronic conditions all in one place.

Data Aggregation

Users can effortlessly aggregate health information from multiple sources, such as different patient portals and wearable devices, ensuring a comprehensive and unified overview of their health status. This integration allows for real-time updates and accurate tracking of key health metrics.

Preventive Biomarker Tracking

The platform enables users to track key preventive biomarkers, providing detailed insights into their health status. By monitoring these biomarkers, users can identify potential health issues early and make informed decisions and adopt healthier lifestyle practices.

Chronic Condition Monitoring

Beek Health facilitates the monitoring of chronic conditions by offering real-time updates and personalized alerts, enabling users to stay informed about their health status. The platform provides valuable insights into ongoing health challenges and identify trends. This comprehensive monitoring empowers users to proactively manage their conditions and make informed decisions about their health.

Key Learnings

Working for BeekHealth, and helping to design their customer focused journey has been a challenging but at the same time one of the best experiences I had. Some of the key learnings were:

  • Gained a lot of new information of health sector in North America as this was my first healthcare product.
  • Research is the Key in building such complex products and design workshops are a must.
  • The project’s scope has to be clear from the beginning, in order to avoid trying to solve multiple problems at the same time, which can only lead to confusion.
